Summary This document represents the final report of NRSP project R6783, 'Ecological and social impacts in planning Caribbean marine-reserves', which aimed to identify and quantify the impacts of coastal management options on local communities and to develop sustainable resource-use strategies. Building on the findings of the projects' ecological and social studies, and combining these with management expertise and research results from across the region, the project developed guidelines for improved planning of marine protected areas in the Caribbean.
